Monitoring system for High Speed Machining Process

The necessity of product development cycle reduction becomes the High Speed Machining process (HSM) a decisive factor for mold and die machinability optimization, and the importance of monitoring systems in HSM process has increased with the high level of performance and security required.

Open CNC concept is widely used to provide the integration of user's functions and communication capabilities with CNC data over the network, but a few machine controllers provide data access at higher levels of communication.

The main objective of this work is to develop a monitoring system of an Open CNC applied to HSM process, specifics objectives are: feedrate monitoring, identify optimized CAM parameters and evaluate Open CNC interface communication.
