PRESENTATION

Goals

The Post-Graduate Program in Production Engineering has the following objectives:

  • Train human resources with competence in scientific and technological research (R & D) and teaching in Production Engineering and related areas;
  • To promote the integration of the University with the companies of the region, favoring the creation and diffusion of technological innovations, the sharing of human and material resources, and also favoring the incorporation and consolidation of contemporary technology;
  • Contribute to the growth of the technological level of the productive sector, seeking to identify and stimulate regional and sectoral vocations, enabling the formation of an increasing number of professionals with competence to introduce scientific and technological treatment in the solution of industrial problems;
  • Advise business, trade union, governmental and other organizations on the process of technological modernization.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Areas of Concentration

Management and Strategies
The area is about the survey and analysis of business strategies in order to consolidate an explanatory theoretical framework of the competitive behavior of organizations and networks, within the current framework of economic globalization; as well as the methodologies and tools used by companies to achieve and sustain competitive advantages such as quality management, strategies for operations, performance measurement systems and information systems. Facilities include the assessment and minimization of impacts to the environment and human health associated with products, processes and productive sectors.

Product and Process Engineering Product and Process Engineering
The specialization in Product Engineering and Process encompasses  the lines of research with technological bias to create the interface of Production Engineering with more traditional areas of engineering, in particular the Mechanical Engineering. Considers the product development cycle in a holistic and integrated digitally, within which, each technology, methodology and process should be discussed as  part of a whole to be optimized; considering from product design to its recycling or disposal. Seeks to provide a significant contribution to  both the latest technology development, as its use. From this perspective, the area of concentration seeks to incorporate knowledge and tools related fields such as engineering itself and other areas of Exact Sciences

Management and Strategy Area
The area is about the survey and analysis of business strategies in order to consolidate an explanatory theoretical framework of the competitive behavior of organizations and networks, within the current framework of economic globalization; as well as the methodologies and tools used by companies to achieve and sustain competitive advantages such as quality management, strategies for operations, performance measurement systems and information systems. Facilities include the assessment and minimization of impacts to the environment and human health associated with products, processes and productive sectors.

Strategic Management Operations
It comes to developing fundamental research in operations management involving both the industrial environment and the service area. It covers the study of systems planning, analysis and control operations; the study of quantitative methods used in operations management; contemporary analysis of maintaining a strategic alignment perspective to the management operations; management practices and systems associated with the overall quality; contemporary practices of knowledge management and organizational learning, and the use of information technology as a support system to business strategies. The projects being developed focus on both the organizations and the productive sectors, from a perspective of understanding the current competitive strategies.

Logistics Management and Supply Chain
It comes to developing research in the emerging field of Supply Chain Management (Supply Chain Management - SCM) and Industrial Logistics, with projects being developed in the metalworking electrical and electronic, chemical and textiles industries,; with special emphasis on the automotive sector. Focuses on the study of contemporary management practices of the chains, the measurement of performance, the contractual relationship, the innovations which mainly permeate the automotive industry, and virtual sets applied to teaching and research in the area.

Environment, Energy and Clean Production
The line of research in environment, energy and cleaner production have been characterized by action on issues related to environment, energy and clean production. It is an interdisciplinary field, with the aim of training professionals involved with related themes, for academic performance, research, and policy and management and control instruments. They are objects of this line, research on methods of analysis, planning and management, treatment issues and policy concepts for both the public and private sectors, as well as case  studies and theoretical and methodological investigations involving  the environment, energy and health.

Product Engineering Department and Process
The specialization in Product Engineering and Process encompasses  the lines of research with technological bias to create the interface of Production Engineering with more traditional areas of engineering, in particular the Mechanical Engineering. Considers the product development cycle in a holistic and integrated digitally, within which, each technology, methodology and process should be discussed as  part of a whole to be optimized; considering from product design to its recycling or disposal. Seeks to provide a significant contribution to  both the latest technology development, as its use. From this perspective, the area of concentration seeks to incorporate knowledge and tools related fields such as engineering itself and other areas of Exact Sciences.
